Tonight at the Monbulk Respect film and song launch we have the extraordinary opportunity to host to artists who have used visual art and music to express their experiences of family violence.
Kim Cornell and Mim are joining us to share samples of their art so be sure to have a look and listen.
Kim describes her artwork...... Art is my passion, it feeds my soul, filling in all the holes life has decided to test me with. After being diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder the result of Domestic Violence I began a healing journey with Art, helping me to Recover, Repair, Release, Renew and Rebuild.
Each piece became a step to finding me again. The girl who loves colour, I could feel the healing with each piece. Bringing LIGHT back into my life and in turn wanting to pay it forward and share my pieces with everyone.
In addition to these artworks we have quilts from the Victorious Quilt Connection project 2001.
This project enabled family violence survivors to work with FV service providers and quilt makers to create a visual expression of their experiences and their futures.
